Reggae On The River will be celebrating it's 30th anniversary this year! What an amazing accomplishment! Anything special on the agenda to commemorate the anniversary?
Well, we really wanted to honor the roots, both of the festival and reggae music in general, but also do it with an eye to the future in hopes of setting the stage for another 30 years of ROTR. From a line-up standpoint, we attempted this by hosting many of the favorite performers who really stood out and thrilled ROTR audiences through the years. Acts like Third World and John Trudell both played the 10th and 20th anniversary showcases, Israel Vibration wrote a song about the event, and of course artists like Jimmy Cliff, Alpha Blondy, Sly & Robbie, Michael Rose and Mutabaruka all have deep historical connections with the show. And in terms of the future, we tried to include a bunch of artists who we've never hosted before like Fishbone, Iration,…

Who are your biggest musical influences?
Leilani: I come from a very musical family. My cousins are The Jets. They were probably my first influence as a child. My biggest influence is Sublime. That band captured my love for both punk and reggae. Covering songs from Bob Marley, Bad Religion, Grateful Dead (my other influences) and making them their own. They even use hooks from Porgy and Bess the Opera...genius. I guess I'm influenced by artists like that, the ones that write timeless music that transcends genres.
What inspires your song-writing and the music you make?
Leilani: Life is my inspiration. I want to experience a song, have it put me in a mood. I want to feel…Continue

You just finished your "Representing 2014 Tour". How was the tour and what were the most memorable highlights for you?
Tour was great. Touring with New Kingston and Inna Vision was a great time. Great crowds and great energy at the shows. We had a few cities that did stand out but the nights we got to just vibe out and bump some tunes was a highlight for me.
Were there any current artists or specific ideas that influenced the new album?
One of our ideas for this album was to…Continue
