Tell us a little about High Hopes sound

The High Hopes sound can be described as the organic influences of 70's reggae/drum&bass/dub and a hint of R&B, with 2 part harmonies that delivers a smooth-flowing modern roots reggae style

What are the bands influences? Is there an artist/ band that you try and emulate?

Our influences are many and we probably won't hit everyone, but here it goes; Dennis Brown, Burning Spear, The Marley Family, Pablo Moses, Culture, King Tubby, The Meditations, Studio One & Channel…

Reverb Nation Contest Winner: MICAH BROWN Interview by Katie Jo Cassidy 8/20/14

Posted by Katie Jo on August 22, 2014 at 11:00am 1 Comment

Congratulations on joining Iration! How did that collaboration come about?

Thanks! I've been going to Iration shows for years, and slowly got to know the guys and realize how down-to-earth they are, and how easy it is to get along with them. We had a mutual respect for each other's music, and Micah and Adam both had been telling me that they would eventually take me out on tour as an opening act. So around the time they booked me to open up last Summer's Automatic Tour, Kai deciding to step away from the band. They were looking to fill the vacancy with a second guitarist/vocalist, something new to their lineup. They…

Interview with Arise Roots--NEW album, Love & War, out 8/5!!

Posted by Lori Hatmaker on July 24, 2014 at 2:30pm 0 Comments

Interview with Karim of Arise Roots

How did Arise Roots meet and decide to form a roots reggae band?

Karim:  That's always a fun question because we initially met on Craigslist LOL. Los Angeles has a pretty extensive music community and there are a ton of musicians linking up all over the place. I remember responding to some guys who were trying to develop a roots reggae project. There were a lot of people who are exploring the sub-genres of reggae but "roots" is what ultimately brought us together. We LOVE roots reggae!

What about your music do you think sets you apart from…

Interview with LEILANI WOLFGRAMM - New Album 'Rebel' out 7/15!

Posted by Lori Hatmaker on July 3, 2014 at 12:30pm 0 Comments

Who are your biggest musical influences?

Leilani: I come from a very musical family. My cousins are The Jets. They were probably my first influence as a child. My biggest influence is Sublime. That band captured my love for both punk and reggae. Covering songs from Bob Marley, Bad Religion, Grateful Dead (my other influences) and making them their own. They even use hooks from Porgy and Bess the Opera...genius. I guess I'm influenced by artists like that, the ones that write timeless music that transcends genres.

What inspires your song-writing and the music you make?

Leilani: Life is my inspiration. I want to experience a song, have it put me in a mood. I want to feel…
